About the Event
We will be car camping in wilderness area near Snowbowl in Flagstaff. Weather permitting, we will hike up Humphreys Peak from Snowbowl Ski Resort (approx. 4.8 mi). Not everyone is required or expected to make it to the top. Along the way (off the path) is a WWII era B-24 crash site that everyone should be able to accomplish. Those capable will have the option to continue on to the saddle and the summit.
If weather is dicey and hiking up a mountain is out of the question (lightning), we have the option of hiking the Lava Tubes, which is a one mile subterranean cave. The temperature is consistently cool and it is dark, so light jacket, water and headlamps are required. (should have those items regardless).
Here is a nicely done webpage with more info: Lava Tubes
