McDowell Mountain Park 2022 Mountain Bike Trip

Biking Outing - November 2022 

Where is the outing? 

Location: Scout Youth Camp Site, McDowell Mountain, Scout Camp Dr, Rio Verde, AZ 85263, USA  

Access: Drive 9 miles east on Shea Blvd and turn left on N Palisades Blvd. Drive 3.5 miles and turn left on Fountain Hills Blvd. Drive 3.6 miles and turn left on McDowell Mountain Park Rd. Check in at the guard house and let them know you are with Troop 109. They will provide additional directions to the campsite if necessary.

What will we be doing? 

Meet at North Scottsdale United Methodist church at 6:00 PM Friday 

Depart the church at 6:30pm 

Eat dinner before departure  

Saturday Agenda 

- Flag ceremony 

- Patrols cook Saturday breakfast 

- Bike inspections and safety discussion 

- 5-15 mile out and back depending on ability and or hiking light to medium levels for non bikers. 

- Bring a sack lunch 

- Advancement during downtime 

- Transport bikes to the skills area and sport loops at the entrance of the park – ride for two hours 

- Patrols cook dinner 

- Flags 

- Troop kitchen for adults 

- Campfire program  

What do we bring?

Scouting 10 Essentials 

Check weather and pack accordingly, current weather is clear, high 60s during day and high 40s at night

How do we get there? 

SEATS - We will need enough seats for all the Scouts. 

GAS MONEY - All passengers not riding with their own parents need to have $20 gas money. We will check money at the parking lot. Passengers are to hand the gas money to their drivers before we leave the parking lot.  

What will we eat? 

Please bring a pack lunch for Saturday. 

Patrols will cook dinner and breakfast as a group and are responsible for planning their own meals.  

Adult meals will be provided for $10 per adult. Please RSVP that you will be attending so we purchase enough food for the group. 

Additional Notes 

You and your Scout must be realistic about his fitness level. Please be mindful of your Scouts physical abilities before signing them up for this outing.  

All adults must have Youth Protection Training to attend an outing. New to Scouting?
