About the Event
WHEN
Friday, March 15 departure, returning Sunday morning, March 17. (see above)
DEPART
Meet at the church Friday at 6:00PM, depart by 6:30. We usually have some Scouts going up without family, so several could need a ride. Scouts who are hitching a ride need to bring $5 for gas.
WHERE
McDowell Mountain Regional Park in the Youth Campground which is at the end of McDowell Mountain Park Drive on Scout Camp Dr. There is a map of the park here: McDowell Mountain Park Map. The campsite is noted in the upper right corner.

Please grab a map of the park when you get there.
If you can’t make it Friday but would like to join us on Saturday, you are welcome. You will have to pay the park entrance fee when you arrive if we have already used our ten parking spaces. ($7)
MEALS
In addition to the Scouts cooking for themselves, we will have a troop dinner on Saturday night for adults.
Patrols will cook:
Saturday breakfast
Sunday breakfas
Please eat dinner before departure Friday evening.
Everyone pack a Saturday lunch.
ACTIVITIES/PROGRAM
The park is next to Fountain Hills and there is a lot of hiking and biking. This is a mountain biking trip so please bring a trail-worthy bike(s) if you have one. You must have your own helmet!!! Also bring first aid kits.
The Scoutmaster is bringing two extra. Anyone who wants to ride will get a chance. We will work on requirements for Cycling Merit Badge.
Proposed itinerary:
After breakfast – Ride #1 or hike
Mid-morning – Ride #2 for advanced riders
Lunch
Afternoon – Maintenance, riding and games
Leisure time before dinner/patrols plan skits for campfire
Dinner around 5:30
Sunset hike or ride
Campfire program
No breakfast Sunday. Pack up and get another ride in or return to town. (Scoutmaster plans to ride.)
WHAT TO BRING
Pack for a car camping trip. There is a list on the website of suggested gear.
Scouts will tent with each other. (Scouts can only share tents with other Scouts within two years of their age.)
PLEASE BRING CANOPIES/SHADE if you have them.
Every driver should have at least five gallons of water even if there is water available.
Every Scout should have 2 Nalgene type containers of water. If they are riding with me they must have a way to carry water with them.
