About the Event

WHAT IS OUR GOAL?

Every year we perform service to the Prescott National Forest and a historic property called Palace Station, see link below.  We are working with the ranger on several projects that are needed to maintain the grounds around the station as well as surrounding trails.  All time worked will be logged as service hours in Scoutbook.

WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?

FRIDAY: The site is just over two hours away. We encourage you to bring dinner and/or eat before departure on Friday. Troop will meet at the Church parking lot at 6:00pm. Leave about 6:30pm and will be arriving at the campsite in the dark (which is fun and adds to the adventure).

SATURDAY:  Scouts will cook and eat breakfast and dinner in their patrols. Scouts will bring a sack lunch to eat during the service project.  The Ranger will have a variety of projects for us to complete to maintain the station and area.  Bring work gloves and sturdy boots.  We will have a campfire program after dinner, each patrol must be prepared with a skit or song.

SUNDAY:  Scouts will cook breakfast as a patrol.  We will visit the Palace Station and learn about some of its history.  Afterwards we will pack up and head home.  Scouts and adult leaders will communicate when we are expected to be back at the church for pickup.  Approximate arrival is 11:00 am.

WHAT TO BRING?

Please pack accordingly for warm weather camping.

Scouts will need to bring a tent and sleeping bag. (tent with a buddy)

Remember your Scouting 10 Essentials.  https://scoutingmagazine.org/2013/02/the-10-essentials/

Work gloves and boots or sturdy shoes, no sandals or crocs.

HOW WILL WE GET THERE?

SEATS - We will need enough seats for all the Scouts. We will be traveling on forest roads and smaller or lower riding vehicles may have trouble.

GAS MONEY - All passengers not riding with their own parents need to have $20 gas money. We will check money at the parking lot. Passengers are to hand the gas money to their drivers before we leave the parking lot.

WHAT WILL WE EAT?

SCOUT MEALS - All scouts are to cook and eat as a patrol. All scouts and adults need to pack their own sack lunch for Saturday.

ADULT MEALS - Adults need to pack a sack lunch for Saturday, but the rest of the meals (breakfast, dinner, light breakfast) will be provided. Please bring $10 to cover these three meals. ***If you don't register, we might not have enough food for you. Register now!
