About the event
Somewhere before getting to Superior there are a lot of trees infested with the parasitic plant known as Mistletoe. We go out, find it, cut it off the trees (which is a good thing), snip it into small sprigs, and bag it. Then, about a week later, we put them into individual bags with small tags that tell the history of the tradition of mistletoe at Christmas time. Add a small bow then off they go for sale.
This year, Christo Visser and Chris Bridges have volunteered to lead our bunch of harvesters out to our top secret location and cut mistletoe from the trees. This only took about two hours to collect last time. The location is fairly close to Kennedy Ranch which is an amazing location to camp on the eastern edge of the Superstition Wilderness. So, barring terrible weather, the troop will camp after collecting the crop and return on Sunday morning.
Right now, we expect everyone to bring a sack lunch and snacks on Saturday. I will send more information as plans solidify.
Remember, each stage of the mistletoe fundraiser - collecting, packaging and selling - earns your Scout points which turn into funds after we tally all the money. 100% minus expenses goes to the Scouts for summer camp fees or high adventures.
