About the Event
Mountain Bike Outing - February 2023 Where is the outing? Location: Usery Mountain Regional Park, youth campground URL: https://maps.app.goo.gl/YBr4ikGMqEvDLs7T8?g_st=ic What will we be doing? Meet at North Scottsdale United Methodist church at 6:00 PM Friday Depart the church at 6:30 PM Eat dinner before departure Saturday Agenda - Flag ceremony in the morning before breakfast - Patrols cook Saturday breakfast - Bike inspections and safety discussion - 5-15 mile out and back depending on ability and or hiking light to medium levels for non bikers. - Bring a sack lunch - Advancement during downtime - Patrol Time (create a skit for campfire program, be prepared) - Patrols cook dinner - Troop kitchen for adults - Flags - Campfire program Pack up camp Sunday morning before 10:00 AM Drive back to North Scottsdale United Methodist once all is packed and site passes inspection What do we bring? Mountain bike with appropriate helmet and gear Scouting 10 Essentials Check weather and pack accordingly, current weather is clear, low 60s during day and low 40s at night See Boys Life camping checklist: https://media.boyslife.org/boyslife/workshop/gearlists/warm.pdf How do we get there? SEATS - We will need enough seats for all the Scouts. Adults, please let us know if you plan to drive and how many seats you can provide. GAS MONEY - All scouts not riding with their own parents need to have $20 gas money. We will check money at the parking lot. Passengers are to hand the gas money to their drivers before we leave the parking lot. What will we eat? Please bring a pack lunch for Saturday. Patrols will cook dinner and breakfast as a group and are responsible for planning their own meals. Adult meals will be provided for $10 per adult. Please RSVP that you will be attending so we purchase enough food for the group. Additional Notes Scouts and their parent or guardian must be realistic about their fitness level. Please be mindful of your Scouts physical abilities before signing up for this outing. All adults must have Youth Protection Training to attend an outing. New to Scouting?
